I like it. I think we should start with a small project. Maybe a jewelry box or something. That would minimize material and shipping costs. If it’s successful we could step up our game. Have a contest for the design. I think it would be great to have people make different parts in parallel to spec and them ship them all to one person for final assembly where they could be fine turned if necessary. Kind of like building the 787! LOL. It would also be MUCH faster. An interesting experiment on precision.

Boxes seem to be in vogue across the WW blogosphere lately. Perhaps we could split up a box project: One person to do the dimensioning, the dovetails, the top, the feet, handles, accents, finishing, etc.

Also, I think that if Canadians want to get involved, they should be the first ones to start the project. I believe postage FROM Canada to the US is inexpensive, but I know the postage TO Canada from the US is costly.

I’d be interested in something like this. Even moreso if there was no plan – if one person just sent an element of their own creation to the next person on the list, and the next person chose how to add to the piece, and so on and so forth. Either way, I’d be in to it.
